The basic elements of the X-matrix are:

  1. Strategic Objectives: The main strategic objectives of the organization are listed in the upper left corner of the matrix. These goals should aim to achieve long-term success. And be related to the company’s mission, vision and values.
  2. Annual Objectives: Annual objectives are defined in the upper right corner of the matrix. Which support the achievement of strategic objectives. These goals are usually set for each year and correspond to specific areas and priorities.
  3. Metrics: The lower left corner of the matrix lists the metrics and indicators. That will be used to track and measure performance and achieve goals.
  4. Initiatives: The lower right corner of the matrix lists the improvement initiatives. That are designed and implemented to achieve strategic and annual goals. These initiatives are often linked to metrics and aim to address identified issues and contribute to organizational performance.
